Field type: single line or multi line
In the Properties panel, under Field type, you can choose:
- Single line: The respondent sees one line; no line breaks. Best for short answers (name, email, one sentence).
- Multi line: The field can grow and accept line breaks. Use this for longer or paragraph-style answers. When multi line is on, the hint "Shift ⇧ + Enter ↵ for a line break" is shown below the field.
Character limit
In Properties, you can set a Character limit (e.g. 500). If set:
- Respondents cannot type more than that number of characters.
- Below the field, "X characters remaining" is shown. The color changes as they approach the limit (e.g. gray → amber → orange → red when full).
Leave the Character limit field empty for no limit.
